The same can be said for the impressive boulevards lined with pleached trees and orderly buildings.\u00a0Adelaide may not be as exotic\u00a0as these locations\u00a0but in the inner suburbs where the original bluestone and sandstone villas have been retained the streetscapes have a pleasing urban form and rhythm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-331 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.advantageplanning.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/IMG_1267-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.advantageplanning.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/IMG_1267-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.advantageplanning.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/IMG_1267-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.advantageplanning.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/IMG_1267.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The present Planning and Design code for South Australia requires town planners to encourage uniformity and order. Generally houses are required to be setback\u2019s five metres from the front street boundary or an average setback distance with adjoining houses. Similarly garage or carports are not permitted to be constructed in front of the front fa\u00e7ade (elevation) of existing houses. Likewise masonry front facades and gable and or hip roof forms are encouraged to ensure a cohesive and uniform streetscape. Or commercial buildings are often required to be constructed hard on the street front to facilitate their use for shops, consulting rooms or offices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Athens building are not to be constructed higher than the Acropolis so most buildings whether residential or commercial are 6 to 8 stories in height.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So\u00a0Town\u00a0Planners for many reasons encourage uniformity in our respective urban environments.
